Feeling :
okay
Over the weekend, temps around here got into the high 90's, and maybe we reached 100. Hot, but bearable (for me at least... still have enough of that Texas blood in me). Of course everyone else didn't think it was so great. All weekend at work all I heard was "Ughhhhh, it's so hot outside!" I swear 4 out of every 5 customers left saying "Stay cool, you're lucky you're indoors where there is air conditioning!" Anyhoo... Sunday night we had an AWESOME storm go through. Beautiful, bright blue lightning and loud thunder that shook the house. One bolt of lightning sounded like it hit near the house. We had the TV on and before I even saw any lightning the TV fuzzed out and then back in. And within a second of that happening, I saw the sky light up in blue and the crack of thunder at the same time, so yeah, it was close. It sounded like a gun being fired right behind the house. I jumped with excitement. The storm lasted pretty much all night. I think I put my book down at around 11 and the storm still rumbled on. I half slept that night, listening to the storm well into 3 and 4 in the morning. It was over by 5:00 when I got up to get ready for work.
Well, the storm cooled things off. Yesterday our high was like 60. It was 55 when I got up for work. But everyone who came into Oscar's yesterday complained that it was too cold. People! Make up your minds!! Well, it was nice to have all the windows open in the house. The air is fresh from all the rain and the house smells great. *SNIFFF* Ahhhhhh
Well, I still haven't heard anything from the State yet. Today marks week four since my second interview. My dad said that it may take longer to decide since last Tuesday, the State had their annual conference with Gov. Rounds and during the conference, all senior supervisors were laid off due to budget, rearranging departments and other stuff. Luckily, the four sups in the department I am trying to get into have their jobs, but their supervisor is one who was laid off. So, I think the process will take longer now while they figure out what's going on. *Sigh*
I got two more letters from schools yesterday saying "no." What the heck is wrong with me that I can't even get an interview with any school? *Double sigh (and a few tears yesterday)*
So I've been thinking... if I don't get a teaching job, and I don't get the State job... when will I quit Oscar's to start subbing full time again? School starts Aug 30. I was thinking of just staying at Oscar's until the end of the first week of school (Sept 3) because I won't be busy subbing in that first week. Then I remembered that I get a paid holiday for Labor day, so if I stay one week longer, I can get that extra day of holiday pay. Then my last day would be the 9th, and I'd have the weekend off too. I don't figure the second week of school will be that busy either. So if nothing else, September 9 will be my last day at Oscar's.
Oh, and I e-mailed the lady who does payroll for Oscar's about my unused vacation time. Most companies will pay it upon leaving in good standing (not getting fired) but some only pay up to 80 hours. She said I would get ALL unused vacation time paid to me if I were to leave. By September, I should have more than 100 hours. WOOT! Bonus! Of course, I'll be putting all of that aside to my savings account.
Now I am going to go clothing shopping. Need more nice clothes for whatever job I'll be doing in the near future.

Do you have a lot of people on your back about getting a job? I do - it seems like everyone I know is on my case. That's the first thing anyone thinks to ask me about when they see me. I mean, that's not my life! Sure, it's extremely important, but I'm living my life in the meantime. I guess they're just concerned, but it's an extra burden put on my shoulders when I know people are worried about me. Besides, I'm not worried - just confused. I know that God will always provide for me - I have a job and Ryan has a great job. We're fine. I just feel like I'm in Limbo - in constant transition. You know what I mean? That's what I want to end. The sad part is that I'm losing my passion. I am starting to lose hope. I still have faith that God has a plan for me, but I just don't know that it's teaching anymore. I have prayed many times for a sign to show me if teaching is my calling. If I am to teach in Texas, I've asked for an open door this year. In the event that I don't get a job this Fall, we are looking for a place to move, starting in September.
Well, anyway... I should comment on your other news...
That stinks about the state job. Have you heard anything yet? Have you called them at all? I guess your dad would tell you if they picked someone and it wasn't you. That's so irritating, isn't it? I mean, they could call you and tell you that they're still deciding or something. If I'm ever in the position of hiring employees, or conducting interviews, I will never once forget to call an interviewee. That's so disrespectful and unprofessional to just leave someone hanging like that.
That's so awesome that you'll get all of your vacation time paid to you when you quit! So, you're putting in your two weeks' notice at the end of the month, huh? Are you feeling relieved at all - like the end is in sight? I know I feel that way. Just five more days at Dillard's! Sunday is my last day, and I know this weekend will be busy (tax-free weekend), but that's okay. At least, I don't generally get yelled at when we're busy! :)
Good luck buying clothes! I went out last weekend, but I couldn't find anything. I'm just a cheapskate. I don't want to pay anything for clothes anymore. Well, I never did. It just seems like a waste to me, and I definitely don't have money to waste! I should get a new suit, though, or at least have mine altered. That way I can look nicer for interviews. Then, when I finally get a teaching job, I'll be able to afford some nicer clothes. I like the fact that longer skirts are in right now. I like them right below the knee. I now own three skirts that I wear regularly! Can you believe that?
Well, I better get ready for the day. I only have three and a half hours before work! :)
